Project Solar Energy

CSRA is implementing the SOLAR project under the EKOenergy's Climate Fund to support 850 small and marginal farmers of 7 Santhal tribe villages which are primarily rainfed, backward, drought-prone, upland areas of Mohammad Bazar Block (Coordinates: 23°59′31″N 87°34′19″E) of Birbhum District of State of West Bengal of India. It is addressing the issues of food insecurity, adversities of climate change, as well as subsistence farming by augmenting irrigation facilities with micro irrigation systems. It is going to install 7 units of improved 3 HP DC solar pump system to meet the irrigation and drinking water needs of every village. The project is involving the community, particularly women in planning, implementation, monitoring and overall management of their irrigation infrastructure. The target is to facilitate more than 325 acres of farmland and transform from single to double crops.
